There has always been a narrative that when Kenyans find something, they never return it to the rightful owner, but many have been changing this perception lately. In a story shared by businessman Ahmed Mohamed @Asmali77 on Twitter, the mkokoteni operator in Eastleigh, Josephat, showed an incredible act of honesty as he handed to a police officer a lost phone he had collected.

Asmali, who revealed that he was passing by when he noticed the mkokoteni man handing over the Samsung phone, which he approximated its work to KSh 60k.
“I was really moved, I was just passing by and I saw the man giving the police officer the phone. I think he found it around one of the wholesale shops. His phone is actually a kabambe, the one that costs KSh 1,500. It really touched me,” he said.
He compared the gesture to people in government entrusted with billions but embezzling the funds. The police officer that was handed the phone is Inspector Joseph of Eastleigh Police Station and will assist in finding the rightful owner. Asmali also shared the man’s number urging netizens to reward him if they felt fit.
